Pediatric Pulmonologist Dr. Wilfredo Veloira Begins Seeing Patients at Outreach Clinic

Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Physician Dr. Wilfredo Veloira from Avera Medical Group Pediatric Specialists began seeing patients at Brookings Health System’s outreach clinic this week. His next available date will be Wednesday, Oct. 4. Following that clinic date, he will be available the first Wednesday of every other month.

Fall Understanding Grief Classes Start Sept. 11

Brookings Health System’s free six-week educational series, Understanding Grief, will begin on Monday, Sept. 11. The class series is led by Social Worker Denise Larson, MSW, CSW.

Solar Eclipse Requires Safe Viewing

On Aug. 21, the greater part of North America will experience a solar eclipse, when the moon blocks the sun from Earth’s view. While Brookings will not be in the total eclipse path, our community will still have a pretty good show, experiencing a partial eclipse with .91 magnitude. This means, weather permitting, we will see a majority of the sun’s diameter covered by the moon and experience unnatural darkness in the midday.
