Henry Buchholtz of Aurora loved to cook. His baked beans became a staple at the annual Brookings County Veterans Memorial pork feed and Aurora Fire Department events. During community pancake feeds, he’d settle in the kitchen with his griddle, turning flapjacks to feed the masses.

Brookings Health System to Celebrate 5000th Blood Donation
Brookings Health System and Community Blood Bank will celebrate the 5000th donation of blood since the bloodmobile began visiting the hospital in 1992. This blood drive will mark the 108th blood drive hosted with Community Blood Bank. Brookings Health System’s physicians, faculty, staff and community now have donated over 625 gallons of blood for use for patients in the Brookings community. Brookings Health System sponsors five blood drives a year in partnership with the Community Blood Bank.

Brookings Health System officially opened the newly constructed Medical Plaza building today, completing the first leg of the health system’s hospital expansion and renovation project. Super Hero 5K Fun Run & Walk Registration Open
Brookings Health System and Brookings Hy-Vee will once again host the Super Hero 5K Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, Oct. 15. The race will start and end at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex (S-JAC).
